Slightly more than 95 percent of Central Oregon Community College nursing program students have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
The pass rate for Central Oregon Community College (COCC) ranks seventh among 20 nursing programs in Oregon, including both associate and bachelor degree programs. The pass rate for Oregon schools as a whole is 92.5 percent, the highest in the nation.
“I am extremely proud of our nursing graduates; their hard work and dedication is obvious in the excellent performance on the national exam,” said Michele Decker, assistant professor II of nursing and chair of the nursing department.
“I am also proud of COCC’s nursing faculty. This team of dedicated nurse educators has worked very hard over the last year implementing curriculum changes to enhance the educational effectiveness of the nursing program curriculum, which has contributed to the students’ excellent performance on the national exam,” added Decker.
Forty-three out of 45 students in the COCC nursing program passed the exam from October 2005 through October 2006. During 2003-05, the pass rate was 89.7 percent. The exam is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
