"Keith Wilkins brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, enthusiasm, and energy as a head football coach in an increasingly successful program in Indianapolis," said Summit High School principal Lynn Baker. "He brings a package of being an excellent head football coach and an excellent classroom teacher to Summit High School."

Wilkins says he is looking for forward to the opportunity to work "in an excellent school environment".  He will be teaching high school social studies and physical education at Summit High.

"I feel a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction knowing that I am able to help young people commit to a common cause and meet their goals - in the classroom and on the field," he adds.

Wilkins says that Central Oregon was his first choice for relocation when he began his national search for a new coaching and teaching position.

"I am thrilled about the community of Bend, especially for the lifestyle and outdoor activities it offers," he said. "As a mountain biker, road cyclist and climber, I have been spending all of my vacation time out west and the opportunity to finally live in a community as exceptional as Bend is almost beyond words for me."

Wilkins has been coaching, both as a volunteer and professional, since 1993. He holds the honor of youngest ever head football coach for a 5A team in the state of Indiana.

Wilkins currently coaches and teaches at Pike High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Pike High is a 5A school of 2,900 students.
