Redmond, Ore – Following nine years of research, planning, development and training, Redmond School District is proud to announce the full authorization of the International School of the Cascades (ISC) as a Diploma Programme International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.
The ISC, a regional public charter school administered by the district, was notified by US mail on April 16 that their application was accepted by the International Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The authorization allows the ISC to commence teaching diploma-level courses at the 11th and 12th grade. Currently students from Bend-La Pine, Jefferson County, and Crook County attend the ISC.
The IB Programme is a recognized leader in the field of international education and pre-university preparation. The programme is rigorous and academically challenging. It encourages students to be active learners, provides curriculum that develops well-rounded individuals and citizens engaged with family, community and the world. The program currently exists in over 1,700 schools in 122 countries. The goal of the program is to provide students with an education that is welcomed by universities worldwide. Students completing all the elements of the Diploma Programme have the opportunity to earn a prestigious IB Diploma and are prepared to enter the university of choice upon graduation.
“The IB authorization of the Diploma Programme is the result of countless hours given by Holly Sides, ISC School Board Chair; Keith Hanson, RSD Curriculum Director; Pandie Anderson, Diploma Level Coordinator; and the outstanding teaching staff of the ISC,” states Donna Howard, ISC Principal. “A tremendous thank you goes out to the Redmond School Board as well for believing in the IB Programme and persevering during the tedious process to establish the ISC charter school and the application for IB authorization.”
