New Undergraduate Scholarship Is Now Available For Fall 2006
by Bend Weekly News Sources

For the first time, the Banfield Charitable Trust is offering the Campbell Family Scholarship

This marks the first year that the Banfield Charitable Trust is offering the Campbell Family Scholarship.   Established in 2005, The Campbell Family Scholarship awards funding for one academic year of undergraduate tuition to students.  The Scholarship gift to the Banfield Charitable Trust was established to help those who want to further their education by removing financial barriers that exist for college bound individuals and it is available for classes starting this fall.  All interested applicants must apply by August 11, 2006.

“The Campbell Family Scholarship will help students that wish to further their education beyond the high school level in all fields of study, so that they are able to broaden their skills and abilities to improve the lives of Pets and their families,” said Sandy Campbell, Banfield Charitable Trust President & Board Chair.  “The Banfield Charitable Trust is proud to offer this financial opportunity to students for their continued learning.”

Determinations with respect to academic ability, character and motivation, and the applicant's desire to improve the lives of Pets and their families, will be based upon information included in the applicant's application, transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation and essay.

Demonstration of financial need is not required, but is a factor that may be taken into consideration by the Scholarship Committee during the selection process.

The applicant must be graduated from or about to graduate from high school or its equivalent, or be a student at an accredited college, junior college, university or other educational institution.  Recipients of scholarships will be selected from qualified applicants on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis, based upon qualification standards, regardless of the race, color, age, religion, sex, or disability of the applicant.  Recipients of the Campbell Family Scholarship can resubmit an application each year, for up to four years, and must reapply for the scholarship each academic year.

For information on application requirements and how to apply for the Banfield Charitable Trust’s Campbell Family Scholarship go to www.banfieldcharitabletrust.net or contact Marie Miller, Banfield Charitable Trust Senior Program Coordinator #503-922-5801.

Banfield Charitable Trust, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization founded in 2003, was founded in response to Banfield team members’ requests for a way to take Banfield’s vision of treating Pets like family beyond the walls of the hospital.  In addition to providing preventive care to clients in need, the Charitable Trust also supports childhood education about caring for Pets, veterinary education programs, and programs based on the family-Pet bond.
