REDMOND, Ore. – The Redmond School District is pleased to announce the addition of Kristen Allen, Carolyn Espinoza, Brian Putman and Cathy Warhank to its administrative team.
§ Kristen Allen will begin the school year as the new Vern Patrick Elementary Principal. Allen, who previously taught at Evergreen Elementary, is recognized for her excellent professional and interpersonal skills. She earned her Masters of Education and Initial Administrator License at the University of Oregon, and Bachelor of Science in Health Education at San Diego State University. Allen states, “As principal, my objective will be to work with staff, community and students to develop a shared vision and operating principles, which define the culture, objectives and exceedingly high goals for student achievement.” Allen replaces Lisa Rawlings who resigned.
§ Carolyn Espinoza has been named principal of Evergreen Elementary. She comes to the district with over 30 years as a successful leader and educator. She completed her Masters of Education at Lewis and Clark College and Bachelors in Elementary Education at Oregon State University. “My challenge as principal will be to prepare all students for academic achievement so they can learn and advance,” states Espinoza. “I recognize the essential need to establish a safe, respectful school environment and to work in partnership with staff, parents and the community.” Espinoza replaces Tim Gleeson who retired.
§ Brian Putman joins the district as Director of Educational Improvement. Prior to accepting the position, Putman was the Director of School Improvement at the Arizona Department of Education and was employed by the Oregon Department of Education as an Education Specialist. He has extensive experience working with schools at varying levels of involvement with the school improvement process. He received his Masters and Bachelor of Arts at Western Washington University. Putman will oversee the district’s school improvement efforts, data, assessment, federal programs and accountability. Putman replaces Keith Hanson who resigned.
§ Cathy Warhank has joined the district as the Director of Educator Quality. She earned her Masters of Science in Education at Montana State University, Bachelor of Arts in Education at the University of Montana, and obtained her Juris Doctor at the University of Montana School of Law. Prior to joining the district, Warhank served as Chief Legal Counsel at the Montana Office of Public Instruction as well as elementary principal in the Great Falls Public Schools. As Director of Educator Quality, Warhank will be responsible for the recruitment, hiring and retaining of highly qualified staff. She will also manage the development of mentoring programs and professional development for licensed, classified and administrative staff. Warhank replaces Mary Cadez who resigned.
The district also announced the promotion of Martha Hinman to Director of Special Services. Hinman has been employed with the district as the Special Services Coordinator since 2005. Her duties will involve managing the district’s special services programs including, but not limited to, educational resource classrooms, psychological and assessment services, behavior resource services and services for English Language Learners. Hinman replaces Jan Brigham who resigned.
“The skills of these individuals will be outstanding additions to the district,” stated Superintendent Vickie Fleming. “We are very excited to recruit an experienced team with such a comprehensive view of our education system.”
