A 21-year old member of the U.S. Air Force was killed Tuesday afternoon when he over-corrected and rolled his pickup when, for an unknown reason, it drifted onto the shoulder of Highway 95 south of Burns Junction, Oregon.
Oregon State Police (OSP) have identified the deceased as Eugene Kim Ardisson of Fremont, California. According to family members, Ardisson had just completed a two-year overseas assignment and was on a two-week leave to visit family before reporting for a new assignment at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.
According to a news release, Ardisson crashed about 2 p.m., February 19, near milepost 83, about 39 miles north of the Oregon-Nevada border.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies with the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon Department of Transportation personnel, and local emergency medical responders assisted OSP on scene.
Troopers and a collision reconstructionist with the Ontario Area Command office are continuing an investigation.
