HILLSBORO, Ore. -- An investigation is continuing into the death of a 42-year old pedestrian that was struck by a car as he tried to cross a busy highway in Hillsboro, Oregon Tuesday evening.
According to Washington County Sheriff’s Sgt. David Thompson, William Joseph Blanchard died at the scene about 7:15 p.m. near SW 334th Avenue on SW Tualatin Valley Highway.
Blanchard, wearing light-colored pants and possibly a dark jacket, reportedly was crossing from the north, had successfully made it to the center median, then was struck in the eastbound lanes by a Thunderbird.
The uninjured driver, who was not arrested or cited at the scene, and whose name was not released, immediately pulled over, as did several other motorists.
Attempts to revive the victim by passersby were unsuccessful, Thompson said.
The crash remains under investigation.
