CORBETT, Ore. – One person was airlifted by helicopter and four others transported by ambulance to the hospital with serious to critical injuries sustained in a head-on crash early Friday morning when a driver reportedly was speeding, passing recklessly and driving on the wrong side of the road, deputies reported.
20-year-old Grant Thomas Millard of Corbett was flown by Life Flight to Emanuel Hospital with critical injuries, a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office news release stated. Millard was driving a 1987 Honda Accord on SE Hurlburt Road near Christensen Road about 7:30 a.m. when he crashed into an oncoming 2008 Dodge Durango.
Caroline Hiscox, 45, the other driver, and three juvenile passengers were taken by ambulance to the same hospital with serious injuries, deputies said.
According to the sheriff’s office, dispatch received a report of a vehicle speeding and passing recklessly on SE Hurlburt Road about 13 minutes before the crash. Deputies believe that this report was associated with Millard’s Honda.
The crash remains under investigation by the Vehicle Crash Team, but deputies said that speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road by the Honda’s driver were factors.
