BRIGHTWOOD, Ore. – Speed and alcohol may have contributed to the death of a 29-year old Gresham man who witnesses said was driving erratically before his pickup hit a stop sign, went down an embankment and crashed into a tree, deputies reported.
The driver was killed on impact, deputies said. CCSO photo.
According to a news release issued by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office of Information, Nicholas Ray Frazier was killed on impact.
Frazier’s 2002 Chevrolet Silverado crashed on the south side of East Barlow Trail Road about one-quarter mile east of Brightwood about 11:30 a.m., March 8.
The air bag did not deploy and Frazier was not wearing a seatbelt when the truck received significant damage to the cab on the driver’s door and roof, the release stated.
“Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors,” deputies said.
Hoodland Fire and Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiners Office personnel also responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
