A woman who met three men while dining at a northeast Gresham restaurant was later assaulted by one of the men who allegedly punched her in the face several times and stole her car, Gresham Police reported.
Police were alerted to the incident about 2:30 a.m. January 28 when the woman flagged down a passing motorist to report the assault and vehicle theft.
The victim told police she met the suspect, later identified as 22-year old Roy Clark of Portland, and two of his “associates” while dining at Yun’s Garden at 1255 NE Cleveland. Over the course of several hours, she and Clark became acquainted and left together in her car.

Clark allegedly became verbally and physically aggressive and punched the victim in the face several times as she was driving. Police say she was able to pull over and escape, leaving her car and personal belongings behind.
The suspect then jumped into the drivers seat and sped off in her vehicle. Investigation by officers revealed that Clark’s two associates had left the bar in a cream-colored Oldsmobile.
Clark was taken into custody a few hours later after pulling into the parking lot of a 7-Eleven at 181st and Barr in the Oldsmobile. He was transported to the Mulnomah County Detention Center and charged with third-degree robbery, fourth-degree assault, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Police recovered the victim’s car several hours later in the Rockwood area.
