BROOKINGS, Ore. - An Oregon mother who said her daughter was threatened in a sketch posted on another student's MySpace.com page has decided to keep her child out of school.
Jen Carson said that her daughter does not want to return to Azalea Middle School, even though police, the FBI and school authorities have reviewed the sketch.
"She's scared," Carson told the Curry (County, Ore.) Pilot.
The drawing showed a stick figure shooting cheerleaders shouting, "Go team, Go!" and also showed stick figures falling off of a cliff into a shark-filled ocean, the Pilot reported.
The accompanying text says the author learned how to, "hate someone so much that you want to rip there (sic) guts out," and that she's glad to have friends who will hold her back "if im gonna kill someone (sic)."
Would-be victims are named in the sketch. Their parents, including Carson, said authorities had not done enough to protect their children.
"I think that people in this community ought to know that these threats are being made," Carson told the Pilot. "The person ought to be talked to about their intentions."
The girl accused of posting the sketch has denied doing so, the newspaper said.
