A Marion County man was arrested yesterday after he was found a short distance away from his ex-wife’s apartment, covered in the blood of his former spouses’ boyfriend whom he allegedly beat with a baseball bat as the man lie sleeping.
Marion County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Salem apartment of Luz Nicholas, 27, at 4493 S. Newcastle Circle NE just before 8 a.m. on June 5.
According to a news release, Nicolas and her 29-year old boyfriend Domingo Miguel-Linares were asleep when her ex-husband, 33-year old Ismael Quiroz-Santos allegedly entered the apartment, grabbed an aluminum baseball bat from the kitchen, went into the bedroom and began beating Miguel-Linares.

Quiroz-Santos fled the scene before deputies arrived, and then ran when he was spotted a short distance away, only to be caught and taken into custody. He was lodged in the Marion County Jail and is charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, and parole violation among other unspecified offenses. Deputies report that the suspect has an extensive criminal history including robbery and assault, plus drug and weapons offenses.
The injured man was transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital where he is being treated for multiple cuts and bruises, and a fractured leg.
Nicolas and her five children ranging in age from four to 14-years-old were uninjured. Quiroz-Santos is the father of four of the five children who were in the apartment during the attack.
