Marion County Search and Rescue teams continue their search for a 21-year old McMinnville woman who didn’t return from a planned day hike in the Ollalie Lake Scenic Area.
According to a news release from the county sheriff’s office, the missing woman, an employee of the Ollalie Lake Resort north of the Jefferson Wilderness area, left for a hike about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning wearing clothing only appropriate for a day excursion. She had no overnight equipment, and may or may not have taken food or water.
A fellow employee hiked the area when she didn’t return, but was unable to locate her. He called to report her missing when he reached an area with cell phone service.
The National Weather Service reported that the overnight low temperature in the area would have been between 49 and 55 degrees with overcast skies and some rain showers.
20 searchers began combing the dozens of trails and Forest Service roads about 7 a.m., and additional assistance is expected.
The identity of the missing hiker is not being released until deputies can locate and notify her family.
