Deputies are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the body of a man found floating in the lagoon along the Clackamas River at the rear of the Oregon City Shopping Center in Oregon City earlier today.
Clackamas County Marine Patrol responded to a report made by two fishermen who saw the body shortly after 1:10 p.m. today, then called in the county medical examiner who took possession of the body. It is anticipated an autopsy will be performed on the deceased to aid investigators with the precise cause of death.
Deputies scoured the area for any clues that would aid in the investigation or identify the deceased.
A Clackamas County Sheriff's Office supervisor on scene reported the body did not visibly reveal any obvious signs of trauma or distinguishable indication of foul play.
The body is described as that of a white male in his mid 20s with short styled brown hair, clean shaven, about five-feet eight-inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with tattoos on his shoulders and on each bicep.
A more detailed description will be provided when the medical examiner has an opportunity to forensically examine the body in more detail. Preliminary reports indicate the body may have been in the water for at least 36 hours.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, or the Clackamas County Medical Examiner at 503-655-8380.
