An eight-year-old Cornelius boy was seriously injured and flown by air ambulance to the hospital late Wednesday morning when, for unknown reasons, he drove into the roadway and directly into the path of an oncoming pickup while riding an electric “pocket bike” on private property, deputies reported.
According to a news release issued by the Washington County, Oregon Sheriff’s Office, Ali-Alifaro, 8, was riding the small electric vehicle similar to a miniature motorcycle when the accident occurred on NW Kerkman Road near NW Zion Church Road about 11:20 a.m., August 1.

Preliminary investigation determined that the boy drove out the driveway of private property and onto NW Kerman Road where he was struck by a 2004 Dodge pickup driven by 48-year old Joe Bob Tankersley. Tankersley was not injured, “had almost no time to react”, deputies said, and will not face any charges.
Alfar was flown by LifeFlight air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. He was not wearing a helmet, deputies said.
