BEIJING -- All 31 people in a bus buried by a massive landslide in China's central Hubei Province are feared dead, Xinhua reported Friday.
A local government statement said the bus carried 31 people and that authorities had confirmed the identities of 26 of them including two drivers and a conductor, the report said. The list also included four children.
The report said the landslide hit Tuesday morning covering about 164 feet of National Highway 318, near the entrance to a tunnel connecting Shanghai and the Tibet Autonomous region.
The landslide dumped nearly 106,000 cubic feet of rubble and boulders.
The bus was reported missing Wednesday, a local official told Xinhua. Rescuers began blasting boulders and reached the front end of the bus early Friday morning but found no one alive, the report said.
The landslide also killed one worker and injured another at a construction site further up the site of the disaster. Two other workers were reported missing.
