BUTLEIGH, England -- A nurse and her husband were arrested for allegedly killing five people under their care at a southwest England home for the elderly.
Rachel Baker was first arrested in January for allegedly administering a "noxious substance" that killed a 97-year-old resident at the Butleigh, England, residential care facility, The Times of London said Tuesday. Police then exhumed bodies other deceased residents, ages 79 to 89, before arresting Baker again, along with her husband, Leigh Baker, the home's cook.
Social services officials closed the 25-resident home in March as a result of the investigation.
The Bakers are expected to face murder charges in the deaths of four women and one man, unlawful possession of prescribed drugs, and attempting to pervert the course of justice, the newspaper said.
