JERUSALEM - Residents of Jewish settlements in portions of the West Bank say Israeli troops repeatedly target their unauthorized outposts.
Jewish settler Dani Landesberg said Israeli forces have repeatedly driven settlers from the West Bank, but their efforts would only be successful if they fully occupy the region, The Washington Post reported Sunday.
"They can drag us away a hundred times and we'll come back," the 18-year-old said. "And if the army wants to stay and guard it, then we win, because if the Israeli army is here, the land is being occupied by Jews."
The regions of the West Bank where Jewish settlers have created outposts have become a major focus of international relations. While Israeli forces have targeted such sites, Israel has been accused of significantly limiting its efforts to drive out Jewish settlers.
The Post said the settlements and their residents have been labeled a detriment to the Middle Eastern peace process by Palestinian officials.
