AJACCIO, France - Police quelled violence and fire fighters put out blazes amid protests in the French territorial collective of Corsica.
Nearly 100 nationalist protesters occupied the offices of the regional president, voicing opposition to perceived repression, Euronews.net reported Sunday.
Supporters also protested the life sentence given to Corsican nationalist Ivan Colonna for the 1998 murder of a state representative.
Corsica regularly experiences demonstrations calling for independence from France.
