VLADIVOSTOK, Russia -- A search was under way in the East China Sea Tuesday for a cargo ship with 17 Russians aboard that has been missing for five days, it was reported.
The sea rescue-coordinating center in Vladivostok said there had been no trace of the Captain Uskov, which sailed under the Cambodian flag, in the past five days, ITAR-TASS reported. There are two women among the crew, the Russian news agency said.
The freighter belongs to a Russian company from the port of Sovgavan.
The chief of the Vladivostok center said a large number of Japanese, Korean and Chinese fishing boats in the area where the Captain Uskov had gone missing were on the lookout for the ship. Japanese coast guard ships and aircraft also were involved in the search.
