MOGADISHU, Somalia - A grenade may have been responsible for an explosion in a house that left at least 15 people dead and 50 more wounded in Somalia, it was reported Tuesday.
Authorities were hunting for those responsible for the blast, which occurred in the Puntland region of northeast Somalia, the BBC reported. The people in the house reportedly were Ethiopians planning to travel across the Gulf of Aden to seek employment in the Arabian peninsula, the British network said.
The Puntland region, a common jumping off point for those intending to cross the gulf, has been relatively calm when compared to the rest of Somalia where Ethiopian troops are attempting to help stabilize the Somali government in Mogadishu.
