KABUL, Afghanistan -- Five police officers were killed in eastern Afghanistan when a roadside bomb hit a police vehicle in which they were riding, officials said Tuesday.
The remote-controlled bomb hit the vehicle in the Sabri district in the Khost province, killing the police officers, all of whom were related, the BBC reported. The officers were on a routine patrol.
Taliban spokesman Zabeehullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for his organization, reported KUNA, the Kuwaiti news agency.
The victims were identified as an officer, his two sons and two nephews, the BBC said.
