Claim: Syria may go to war with Israel
by UPI

DAMASCUS, Syria - Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem said Sunday there is the chance of a Syrian-Israeli war.

"Everything is possible, every rational person should prepare for every eventuality in the wake of the crazy policies advocated by the U.S., whose goals are certainly not achieving stability and security in the region," Moallem told an al-Anba reporter. Al-Anba is a newspaper in Kuwait.

When asked about the possibility that Israel was connected to the death of Hezbollah leader Imad Mughniyeh, Moallem said he did not want to jump to conclusions, The Jerusalem Post reported Sunday.

He said people must ask who would have the most to gain from any large crime and that, "Israel holds a top spot on that list."

The Syrian foreign minister rejected accusations that Syria was connected to the killing.

"We are undertaking significant efforts in order to complete the investigation. We will announce the results at its conclusion," Moallem told the Kuwaiti newspaper.
