Arrests made in Winnipeg triple slaying
by UPI

WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- A man and two teenagers were in police custody in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Tuesday, facing murder charges in a weekend triple slaying at a house party, police said.

Police did not identify the suspects, but said they were 15, 18 and 25 years old, and each faces three counts of first degree murder and three counts of attempted murder in the non-fatal shootings of three other victims, the Winnipeg Sun reported.

"They (suspects) knew the house that they were entering," Police Chief Keith McCaskill said of the house party at 4 a.m. Sunday.

He said the suspects have ties to a street gang but police don't believe the homicide was gang-related. McCaskill wouldn't comment on reports the suspects had been denied entry to the party, nor would he offer any other suspected motive, the Sun said.

A 26-year-old woman and two men, 22 and 31, were killed in the shooting spree. There were about 20 people in the house when three masked gunmen burst in, witnesses said.
