BEIJING - The government of China has accused the United States of hypocrisy when it comes to pointing out the human rights violations of other countries.
"The U.S. has turned a blind eye to its own violations on human rights," said the Information Office of the State Council in a document issued Friday, China's Xinhua news agency reported.
It is the 10th consecutive year that China has issued a U.S. human rights report.
As in past year's, China's 2008 report lists what it considers human rights abuses ranging from violent crimes to income disparity.
"The U.S. practice of throwing stones at others while living in a glass house is testimony to the double standards and hypocrisy of the United States in dealing with human rights issues and has undermined its international image" the report said.
China advises the U.S. government to face its own human rights problem and stop applying what it called double standards to the issue.
