Drug dealer's bejeweled wife gets 2 years
by UPI

LIVERPOOL, England -- The wife of a British drug baron who flaunted a jewel-encrusted lifestyle was sentenced to two years in jail, prosecutors said.

Sara Shea, 30, pleaded guilty to money laundering and received the sentence Monday in Liverpool Crown Court after prosecutors testified that she and her jailed husband, Keith Shea, had boxes of Rolex, Patek Philippe and Chopard watches scattered through their Mersyside home when arrested, The Times of London reported.

In a sentence meant to send a message to family members of drug dealers who knowingly profit from the illegal activities, prosecutors noted Shea possessed Christian Dior and Chanel jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of dollars; spent nearly $143,000 on his-and-hers diamond encrusted watches; and was planning to move into an $1.2 million mansion, the newspaper said.

Police Det. Constable Elaine Moore told The Times authorities are determined to confiscate all the proceeds of drug crime, saying, "Anybody, whether family member or partner, should remember one thing -- Merseyside Police will be relentless in hunting them down and bringing them to justice."
