WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- A Canadian man convicted of sexually preying on teenage boys in Tucson, Ariz., was sentenced to 37 months in prison.
Doron Waldman, 35, a resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was arrested in Tucson Nov. 19, 2007, and has been in jail since an undercover Internet sting operation netted him, the Winnipeg Sun reported Wednesday.
Because of his time already served, he faces 20 more months of incarceration, the report said.
Court documents showed in online chats with people he thought were teenagers, but were actually police officers, Waldman discussed traveling from Canada through Tucson to Mexico to have sex with boys between 12 and 14, the Arizona Daily Star said.
Once he completes his sentence, he will be deported to Canada where he will face child pornography charges, the Sun said.
The Daily Star reported in October that the charges Waldman faced carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine and lifetime supervision.
