TEHRAN - Iran's top nuclear negotiator has agreed to sit down with an EU official to discuss Iran's nuclear program.
Iran chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani is to meet Wednesday in Turkey with Javier Solana, the European Union's foreign policy and security chief, RIA Novosti reported, quoting a report from the Iranian Fars news agency.
A representative for Solana confirmed the meeting was scheduled and said he would offer details at a foreign ministers' meeting Monday in Luxembourg.
Iran has refused to bow to international pressure to abandon its uranium enrichment program and announced earlier this month that it had instead stepped up its fuel production.
Western countries suspect that Iran's nuclear program is for weapons, although Iranian officials insist it is for energy production.
