BOGOTA - Colombian rebels killed nine police officers Wednesday in a bombing that wounded three others and is considered the worst attack so far this year.
The officers were working a support detail for a coca eradication effort north of the capital, Bogota, when the bomb exploded, El Tiempo newspaper reported online.
Authorities blamed Colombia's largest rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, for the bombing.
FARC and the Colombian government have been battling for more than 40 years.
