LISBON, Portugal - Portuguese authorities Monday admitted they have no clues in the disappearance and apparent kidnapping of a 4-year-old English girl earlier this month.
Police are looking into several possible causes for the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, The Times of London reported. One theory supposes that McCann was abducted for sexual purposes.
McCann was reported missing on May 4 from the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz. Portuguese detectives searched the complex and brought in dogs to track her scent. The Telegraph said local police had questioned a British man who lives near the scene of the disappearance and drained a swimming pool.
A judge has begun hearing eyewitness testimony about the little girl from Britain who traveled to Portugal with her family on vacation and went missing 11 days ago.
