Iranian adviser: United States hostile
by UPI

TEHRAN - No other country is as hostile to Iran as the United States, says Iran's top adviser on international relations.

"The (United States) pushes for resolutions against Iran more than any other country," said Ali Akbar Velayati, adviser to the leader of Iran, the Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Velayati accused the Bush administration of contradicting itself on foreign policy and said the White House should admit its problems in Iraq are increasing daily, Iranian Press TV reported Saturday.

"The Americans shouldn't think that by encouraging insecurity in Iraq they can appoint another Saddam or change the Iraqi authority with the help of some scheming regional groups," Velayati said.

Velayati said the United States should quit using Iran as a scapegoat and accept responsibility for its failed invasion of Iraq.

Representatives from Iran and the United States are to meet in Baghdad May 28 to discuss security in Iraq. It would be the first official discussion between the two countries in almost three decades.
