Army reports six U.S. soldier deaths

BAGHDAD - The U.S. military said Friday that six U.S. soldiers had been killed in Iraq in the previous 24 hours.

An Army Task Force Lightning soldier died from small arms wounds received in the Diyala Province, the Kuwait News Service, KUNA reported. Another Task Force Lightning soldier died in northern Iraq in an explosion near an Army vehicle.

A bomb attack on a tactical vehicle killed a soldier with the 13th Expeditionary Command in the Salah Al Din Province and another soldier was killed by gunmen in western Baghdad's Al-Anbar Province, KUNA reported.

Two U.S. soldiers and their Iraqi interpreter were killed in western Baghdad in an attack on their patrol vehicle, KUNA reported.

The latest reports brought the number of U.S. military casualties for May to 89, KUNA reported.
