MOSCOW - Extremists groups are using the Internet to spread terrorism-related information in Russia, a security official said.
"According to information of experts, there are about 5,000 sites that are actively used by extremist organizations and groups that spread in the net practical guidelines for the organization of the clandestine activity, the manufacture of home-made explosive devices (and) the choice of facilities for terrorist acts," Federal Security Service Director Nikolai Patrushev said, Itar-Tass reported.
Patrushev, chairman of the National Antiterrorist Committee, said the growth of radicalism and foreign religious expansion is fueling terrorist ideology. He said the committee must engage in "counter-propagandist activity" using the mass media and other institutions, Itar-Tass reported.
