SANTIAGO, Chile - Chile's Supreme Court has called for the extradition of former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori back to Peru, El Comercio reported Thursday online.
The court's prosecutor, Monica Maldonado, said extradition was called for, based on numerous human rights charges leveled against the ex-Peruvian leader.
Fujimori was arrested in Chile in 2006 while traveling to Peru from Japan, where he had been residing since fleeing Peru in 2000.
Fujimori is wanted in Peru on human rights and corruption charges.
