MADRID - Police in Spain Friday arrested a Syrian arms dealer wanted by U.S. authorities on terrorism charges.
Monzer al Kassar was arrested at the Madrid airport and faces several charges, including conspiracy to provide aid to a terrorist organization, conspiracy to kill American officials and citizens, money laundering and conspiracy to use and get an anti-aircraft missiles, CNN reported.
The Spanish Interior Ministry issued a statement that said, "American authorities have expressed their satisfaction at the arrest," CNN reported.
Kassar recently said he has retired from arms dealing. Police were searching his home on Spain's Mediterranean coast Friday.
