BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb in Baghdad killed five U.S. soldiers, an Iraqi interpreter and three civilians Thursday, the military said.
The bomb, which hit a military vehicle, also injured one soldier and two civilians, CNN reported. Also Thursday, one soldier died and three were injured when a rocket-propelled grenade hit a U.S. military vehicle in northern Baghdad.
In another attack a suicide bomber killed at least 16 people in northern Iraq by driving his truck into a municipal building. CNN reported that at least 75 people were wounded when the truck exploded at a building housing Sulieman Pek's police department and mayor's office.
Also, the U.S. military said 11 Iraqi civilians were wounded when an airstrike missed a house in Baquba where insurgents had reportedly placed a bomb.
The U.S. Army requested that a bomb be dropped on a house to destroy an al-Qaida explosive device but the bomb "missed its intended target and struck another structure, away from the targeted house," the military said in the CNN report.
