MOGADISHU, Somalia -- A woman and two police officers were injured Wednesday in a grenade blast outside a coffee shop in Mogadishu's Bakara market.
Witnesses said a number of police were having tea in the shop when an unknown gunman hurled a grenade at the shop, the Shabelle Media Network said.
Ali Mahdi, chairman of Somalia reconciliation committee, said the government was working to pacify the capital ahead of the July 15 reconciliation assembly.
Col. Yusuf Hussein Dhumal said troops were being withdrawn from the market at the request of market traders who complained that business activities in the market had ceased during the operations.
