BRIDGETOWN, Barbados -- A weekend festival in eastern Barbados turned deadly when a bus smashed into a wall and killed six people and injured 37 others.
The Sunday afternoon crash happened at Joe's River, about 14 miles east of the capital, Bridgetown. Caribbean360.com reported.
The bus was headed for the island's largest annual event, the Crop Over Festival, when the driver apparently lost control, The Nation newspaper reported.
At least eight of the injured were reported in critical condition, CNN said.
The accident was the worst in the island's history, officials said.
