PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria -- Explosions caused by a flammable liquid being sold as kerosene spread to a second city in southern Nigeria, claiming another victim.
One woman was killed and two other severely burned by the fuel, raising the death toll to around 20, Nigeria's Guardian newspaper reported Thursday.
The blasts -- mostly occurring in homes using kerosene stoves for cooking -- are said to have been caused by a mixture of another flammable liquid that sellers are palming off as kerosene.
Due to chronic electricity shortfalls, many Nigerians rely on kerosene for cooking, and powering generators and lamps.
