WINDSOR, Ontario -- A man suspected of three killings in Ontario, Canada, was arraigned Thursday on a charge of strangling a Windsor bartender.
Jesse Imeson faces three counts of first-degree murder, the London Free Press reported. In addition to Carlos Rivera, he allegedly killed Bill and Helen Regier of South Huron to steal their pickup truck, officials say.
Investigators said that they got a lucky break earlier this week when someone walking in the woods found the Regiers' truck in thick brush in an area near the Quebec border. Quebec police learned that there had been recent break-ins in cottages along the Ottawa River, and Imeson was arrested Tuesday after a man going to a neighbor's cottage to water the plants spotted him inside.
Imeson spent 10 days on the run. Rivera's body was found July 19 in Imeson's boarding house room in Windsor, across from Detroit. The bartender's car was abandoned near the Regiers' home in a rural area near Lake Huron.
The arrest took place on the other side of Ontario.
