- So, it's only taken fifteen years for ethnic diversity to become acknowledged by those who knew it was here in Salem all along but, didn't know how to implement the resources that African-Americans who are the smallest minority in Salem needed to help our lives become fruitful in all areas of education, health, and finance. I've lived here for over thirteen years now. Am I suppose to say, Thank you for doing something that should had been done all along. This city as well as this national will be united when we see ourselves as people, not statistical numbers, or differences of skin color. Racism in this country has to Stop. It's time for all of us black, white, brown, yellow, red, etc. to stand together as one nation, one people of a nation, and start living the words from the, "Declaration of independence". "We the People".
