- "In short, freedom and terrorism cannot coexist." I love this statement by Mr. Morin. Has he never been outside the borders of this country? I could go on and on about how "apropos" it was that America just happened to fall victim to an act of terrorism of such a magnitude that in one fell swoop allowed our ignorant and arrogant masses to cheer for the stripping away of all but the smallest shreds of their freedom under the guise of a "war on terror", but Mr. Morin is obviously a person of very little world experience and also a connoisseur of propaganda cuisine with this statement about freedom and terrorism not being able to coexist. The people of Europe, the Middle East, England, Ireland, and Asia have been "coexisting" with terror for generations. We here in America have had the luxury of enjoying a sheltered existence under the shining glory of Red, White and Blue, but not by any accident, or small coincidence, we have enjoyed this luxury of life rarely touched by the fanaticism of terrorists because we are a Democracy, because we had (and I use this word with all the importance and intention of a person enraged by the condition of our country today) Freedom to speak our minds, to bear our arms, to question and protect all that we believe in, and all that we fought for the Independence to enjoy. With the impact of four planes on September 11th, 2001 the idle masses that have enjoyed a protected and ambiguous existence in this country stampeded not unlike a herd of buffalo off a cliff to the bottom of a deep hell emblazoned with the flames of derelict politicians and reckless policy and Mr. Morin is one of those buffalo, lying at the bottom of that pile. - I find it fascinating that Mr. Morin's photo sporting his Legion cap appears with his article. He is a man of position therefore he must know what he is talking about, correct? Morin couldn't be more wrong about our continued involvement in Iraq than he is about comparing Churchill's quotes referring to an aggressive standing army of World War II, as somehow supporting his nonsense in his stated beliefs of today.
Mr. Morin as the many other misguided soles who have somehow confused ''terriorists'' with a force which can be addressed and overcome or destroyed by a standing army and it's concepts, are in fact the reason our Nation is being destroyed it's self, from within. Mr. Morin you are a foolish person, and all of those who support your views are no less the same, starting with Bush. Churchill you fool, was speaking of a mounted and readily identified military, he was not referring to members of a public spread out across the world and hidden behind the many doors. You Sir are quite naive at this late date to still cling to something which has been proven false day in and day out for several years now, concerning Iraq and ''our war'' on terrorism. Terrorism, you foolish person, is not and will never be a force which can be conquered by that of a standing army and it's concepts.
As for the Saddam regime and the elimination of it by the use of our army, I'll not get into the yea nor nay of our reasons for this elimination, but rather only state that such military elimination of this regime has long since been completed. Since however, we have not been dealing with a standing army and a force easily identified. Rather Mr. Morin we are dealing with and talking about something very different and well out of reach and understanding of men of military type thinking, such as yourself. See Mr. Morin, we are in fact dealing with and speaking of 'you' yourself and the many others of like mind. You Mr. Morin are in fact the enemy! You don't see that, nor understand the concept which that statement is referring to do you? Of course not, least you would carry the views you hold of our continuing on with the same ole nonsense over there in Iraq. You make note of the Vietnam War and your claim that the soldiers of that War remember fighting that war without of the support of the people back home. To that I say horse feathers! Certainly they were those who didn't support that war, many even wearing one uniform or another. However they were just as many, at least in the early years of the war, who did support it, or at least supported our government's lies as to why we were there. That war as this war in Iraq was largely based on misunderstandings of the situation, along with out right lies and propaganda by our government. Propaganda such as Barry Saddler and 'his' Ballet of the Green Beret to suck in more willing bodies and support from the public, to name but one area of deceit. Meanwhile Mr. Morin while Barry filled the airways and TV screens with tunes of how we were fighting for and saving all the ''oppressed'' folks of South Vietnam, Operation Ranch Hand and it's fleet of aircraft was busy spreading herbicides over the jungles and farmlands in an attempt to make it easier for us to kill these ''oppressor's of those oppressed which Barry sang of. As Barry strummed away the Engineer's bulldozers were busy destroying one village after another and displacing the villagers to that of barren, wind swept ground filled with tents as their new ''homes''. While Barry talked in his songs about the good ole 33 beer and drinking lots of it in Saigon, just down the street from his favorite waterhole was the building where the CIA and the corrupt South Vietnam Regime were conducting their ''interviews'' of those so unlucky as to have fallen into their hands.
With the prison scandal stories from Iraq, along with all of the many reported rapes and murders committed on the streets it should be quite easy for even foolish people such as yourself to understand the connection here? But you don't, do you? The connection is you foolish person, is that we are again here as we did in Vietnam, using a standing army and it's concepts for that which they do not apply. I would not give you ten cents for a soldier that would hastate to pull the trigger, or the pin on a handgrenade, no more so than I would want to hire a policeman who shoots me while I'm reaching for my drivers license!
Sadly Mr. Morin, your thinking and endearment of the military concept being used in situations which they do not apply, is also becoming the norm of the thinking by dimwits such as yourself as the ''answer'' to controlling Illegal Immigration and securing our South West border with Mexico. This foolish thinking has drawn the NG to this border, as too it has increased the ranks of the inept Border Patrol from 4000 to 15000 as they number today. All because of 'you' Mr. Morin. This military style advancement on and near to this border has changed what used to be a desert landscape of peaceful paradise, into a battle ground of fortifications, and the never ending stream of rolling stock of a government gone mad! And it's not ''winning'' nor stopping a damn thing! You and the likes of you Mr. Morin, are quite foolish people, and being such at the expense of the Nation you purport to so love.
Once we 'capture' you Mr. Morin we will have won, because you Sir are the real enemy. Until then it's a lost cause, in Iraq as it is here at home on this border.
