If memory serves me well, the price of gasoline spiked in the 70's when OPEC embargoed oil to the US. It went from about 35 cents a gallon to over a dollar in a very short time. You had to wait in line for hours sometimes at a gas station to get gas. Usually only 5 gallons at a time. It's been slowly rising ever since. gw was just a smart ass teenager then. Us Americans were happy when the price settled around a dollar. Then another round of spikes took it to $2.00 and we were happy when it stabilized at 1.75. Last round took it well over $3.00 and we're happy to see it at $2.25. Wanna wager on what we're going to be happy with this time next year? $3.50 maybe? $4.00?
