- In case you are interested in who the lender who foreclosed was: it's Long Beach Morgage Company, the subprime subsidiary of Washington Mutual.

- Ray and Deanna were my aunt and uncle. I live in Portland and was not aware of the problems they were having. One thing the papers have neglected to say, is they are from a pioneer Prineville family, and the land their home is on has been in the family for well over 100 years. They must have incurred a mortgage when they built a new home on the property, as the land was given to them by my grandmother. As for their financial problems, a large part of that is from medical bills. Because they were self-employed, they did not have access to affordable medical insurance. Raymond had heart problems. I guess their situation seemed insurmountable, as I can only imagine facing homelessness at 70 years old after having been born, raised and lived on the same land all of that time. They never had any children and loved their pups. Deanna had a pilot's license and loved to fly. They were both hardworking in their contract business for the Forest Service. They really deserve better than this. And yes, I am going to look into happened. Ron C

- I think the Prickville Police should consider charging their mortgage broker with criminally negligent homicide.

- What a tragic ending for these two elderly people. I'm sure the both of them were outstanding US citizens their entire lives. Its a shame that our goverment bails out welfare babies who have homes in forclosure, but ignore others based on their income status. I would also love to find out the name of the lender who was forclosing on their home and why they didn't bother to educate them on a reverse mortgage program...
