what do you guys think about the big stink being raised over the national anthem be written over in spanish..

i know GW didnt like the idea so what do you guys think about it?

Totally rewritten in Spanish? I'd have a big problem if the English version were to be replaced with Spanish. Having it available in Spanish to allow for those not yet fluent in English to still show their allegiance to this fine country wouldn't be a problem to me.

I do think that it should be a sign of respect to learn the language though, and would hope that people proud enough to know the anthem in Spanish would strive to learn it in English too.

I don't like the idea either. We're a melting pot, and the key word is melting. We've melted into something of a blended society but we do have a common language. There really is a reason they call the sort of English we speak American English.

Actually were not a melting pot. People that have immigrated here for the past several decades have isolated themselves into their own communities, hired their own, and basically have segregated themselves. I can name entire communites and towns that have done this, including tearing down the old English signs, and installed all their own business signs in their own languages, etc etc. A melting pot we are not. Maybe 100 years ago maybe, but not now.

Even our jails are being segregated by the inmates themselves and by the prisons for the inmates own safety. For example the Blacks and the Mexicans are constantly assaulting and killing each other in state prisons and they're gangs are in a never ending brutal war with each other.
