Deputies on Friday released the names of two drivers involved in a Thursday night crash between a pickup and a semi-truck pulling a 48-foot trailer; one whom was cited with careless driving, and the other flown to the hospital by helicopter and arrested for alleged drunk driving.

A male body, appearing to have been in the water for “some time”, was discovered floating face down in a canal in northeast Bend, Oregon on Friday, deputies reported.
According to a news release prepared by Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputy Lt. Erik Utter, 911 Dispatch received a report of a possible drowning victim in the canal behind a home at 21165 Scottsdale Drive on September 14.

Company Certifies 100th Aircraft Built in 2007
Columbia Aircraft of Bend, Oregon has begun recalling a portion of the approximate 300 employees laid off earlier this month in response to a problem with faulty integrated avionics systems provided by their supplier, Garmin, that made it impossible for the company to issue a Certificate of Airworthiness to customer specifications for delivery.

A 48-year old La Pine woman who walked away uninjured from a rollover crash on Highway 97 near the High Desert Museum south of Bend on Thursday afternoon told deputies that a mechanical failure may have contributed to the accident. Two Bend motorcyclists were cited by Oregon State Police troopers Thursday morning for high-speed violations near a highway construction zone on Highway 126 near Prineville, Oregon. One of the riders was traveling in excess of 120-mph.

Two Redmond boys, ages 16 and 17, were cited for reckless burning and criminal mischief Thursday in connection with a brush fire that burned nearly six acres in the Tumalo area. Witnesses told deputies the boys tossed fireworks out of their vehicle.
