A 71-year old Crescent, Oregon driver was injured when he pulled out in front of a pickup towing a ski boat in southeast Bend last evening, deputies reported. Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause of a small brush fire that burned ¼ acre in Tumalo State Park in north Bend on Sunday. Bend Fire & Rescue dispatched one water tender and two wildland companies, who were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.  No structures within the popular campground were threatened. “Remember we have very dry conditions at this time,” Captain Scott Wyman said. “Use extreme caution when outdoors.” [full story]

An Alfalfa man was cited for two counts of reckless burning when an unattended fire in a burn barrel escaped on Sunday, spread to his neighbor’s property, damaged 10-15 automobiles and burned down an 800 square foot shop, deputies reported. Bend Police are looking for the person or persons responsible for burglarizing five vehicles and two homes in a northwest Bend neighborhood Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. Lt.
