The City of Bend announced today it will receive a total of $4,350,000 in grant funding, $4 million of which will be used to build a public transit operations and maintenance center for its new transit system which is scheduled to begin running in late September. Horizon Air has begun a new twice-daily nonstop service from Redmond/Bend to Los Angeles International Airport. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality smoke advisory for Central Oregon residents Tuesday.  Concern about haze and unhealthful levels of smoke in Sisters and Bend caused by the Black Crater and Maxwell fires prompted the Advisory.
