The City of Bend City Council and the Tower Theatre Foundation have revised the Tower Theatre Agreement to include offering the use of the facility to other non-profit organizations. The agreement originally allowed for only City use in exchange for a $300,000 capital campaign commitment. Homeowners are reminded by the Bend Fire Department that they are legally and financially responsible for any damage caused due to fire escaping their control. Matthew Sahlberg of Bend is fortunate that his out-of-control debris fire that burned about ¼ acre did not cause any property damage other than the destruction of natural vegetation.

Oregon State Police troopers arrested a Corvallis man Friday for Criminally Negligent Homicide charges stemming from a March 2006 fatal motor vehicle crash on the Santiam Pass in which a Chinese national was killed. The accident also injured four others, including two Bend residents.

Anglers and boaters should use caution on the Lower Deschutes River between Pelton Dam and the mouth of the river on Saturday, July 15th. A fun family outing turned deadly on the Deschutes River in Bend when a family drifted into treacherous waters.

A summer-camp counselor has been arrested for harassment of three children and strangulation of a nine-year-old boy, according to the Bend Police Department.
Henry A. Holmberg, 20, a counselor for a summer camp held at High Lakes Elementary, was arrested June 30 and was arraigned Tuesday, July 11 facing multiple charges, according to Lt. Gary Mack.

Early this morning on July 13, Bend Police apprehended a burglar in south Bend on Fishhawk Loop in the Greatwood area. A homeowner surprised James Vogel, a 26 year old Bend resident, as he was attempting to break into his residence. Vogel fled and attempted to leave the area, but the home-owner phoned the police with the alleged burglar’s description.
