Beginning Thursday, February 1 at 10 p.m., Louisiana Street between Bond and Wall Streets will be closed due to the festivities of the LibertyBank WinterFest. Bond Street between Kansas and Louisiana Streets are also closed. Until further notice, Bend drivers are advised to avoid the Third Street underpass in Bend, which was closed to traffic this morning about 4:30 a.m. due to flooding from heavy rains. “At this time it is unknown when Third Street will re-open,” said Sgt. The Department of Solid Waste in Deschutes County, with participation and assistance by Deschutes Recycling, will be offering county residents free Christmas tree disposal services this season. Motorized vehicle use will be prohibited in parts of the McKay Creek watershed on the Lookout Mountain Ranger District of the Ochoco National Forest from December 1, 2006 to May 21, 2007, to protect natural resources.
